Two posts in a day after weeks with none! I can thank school starting back up for that, but today was another milestone.

Ron’s birthday is next Tuesday. It was always around conference. After I became a librarian, I was almost always gone on his birthday. Maybe getting ready to be gone or just coming back. He was always a good sport about that.

Last year was different. We’d just found out he had cancer, and I didn’t go to conference. We had dinner at squids with Joe. He talked with his doctor during dinner. We made plans for surgery. He had my full attention. 

This year will be my first October 4th without him here. I was his Facebook legacy contact, so I thought it was probably time to go ahead and memorialize his page before happy birthday wishes came from well-meaning people who didn’t know he was gone. 

It’s a very nice thing that Facebook allows. Gone but easily remembered. If you don’t have a legacy contact, look it up, and please pick one.
