Joy in the morning

I've been pondering this verse quite a lot.

Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5b, NASB.

Losing a spouse definitely places you in night mode. Weeping. Trapped in sorrow.

Night seems to go on forever. The pain and despair seem to be all you'll know. Calling out for help and not seeing what is before us. Eyes that are incapable of seeing a future ahead.

But God has prepared time so that as we near dawn, we start to heal. Thoughts become clearer. A life ahead comes into focus. Pain diminishes.

And then dawn comes. The sun begins its ascent into the sky. Heartache and pain are still in residence, but they are diminished by the rising light. Given a place worthy of a long and loving marriage. No longer filling the house in which you live every breathing moment. They have found their place in sweeter memories and living a life of more productive pursuits.

Acceptance. Contentment. Waiting for what God has in store . . .

Testifying that there is joy in the morning.
