furniture

Many of you have been in my house and have seen the pieces of green/black furniture that I have. There are lots of wood tones too, but some of these green and black pieces are my favorites. They’ve been a myriad of colors over the years and have paint build up to the nth degree. The paint has chipped in places revealing the wood underneath. Sometimes just revealing a previous color.

I spent a week in Marietta with my friend Sharon, and we visited an antique mall where we saw some lovely pieces that had been beautifully refinished. Maybe it’s time to refinish the green and black? I convince myself that it is and go buy some supplies. I *think* I can start on a Friday and be done by Monday. I think.

I’m not a refinishing novice, but it has been a long time. Maybe too long.

CitriStrip had good reviews. I goop it on, wrap it up in plastic wrap (yes, plastic wrap), and wait the allotted time. Hmmmm. I’m not impressed with what happened. The container says it will remove multiple layers but only one is coming off. I use a tub and am nowhere near finishing.

I watched more videos.

I got a heat gun. This one works a bit better, but it’s hard on my hands and arms. And it’s still not what I was hoping for.

The movers will be here 6 days. Wondering if I can muster up the dedication needed to at least get it ready to paint before they arrive.
